Dans [2025-2026] Brondby 2-3 RCS | Après match -brondbyThat’s it! Our European journey is over and you became the final stop. Respect to your team, over both games your young players showed quality, hunger and technical ability that was clearly above ours. You looked sharp, dangerous and like a team with a real future. Honestly, I would not be surprised if you go all the way in the Conference League.
What leaves me completely stunned though is Patrick Pentz tonight. In France he was a hero and the reason we even had a chance, but at home he cost us the little miracle we were all dreaming of. Three bizarre decisions on the goals, and at this level that kills you straight away. I am honestly sitting here shaking my head, we could have made it so much harder for you.
Still, there is a saying in Denmark that nothing is so bad that it is not good for something. These matches, against you and also earlier in Iceland and the Faroe Islands, have shown once again that it takes a lot to play European football. The level this time was simply too high for Brøndby, but it also highlights what we must aim for in the future. You should be seen as a benchmark for us with the quality you have in your squad, even if the financial difference between our clubs is massive. Hopefully it means that our next transfers will be made with even greater ambition.
But that is football. We will move on, focus on our own league and fight to take the title so we can come back to Europe next season. Maybe the road will be a bit easier then, maybe not, but we will be back.
Good luck to you in Ligue 1 and in Europe. I will be keeping an eye on your progress and I will admit, from a distance, I will be cheering you on.
Best of luck!

Those people, sorry I should say parasites, are not our fans. They are wannabe Hells Angels whose only mission is to intimidate others or ultimately to fight. I feel ashamed. Please let them be buried in French soil. -
Good luck to all of you. I hope our fans down there will create a big celebration and bring plenty of great atmosphere without any trouble.
And of course, you deserve a prediction. As the eternal optimist on behalf of my team, I believe the match will end:
Strasbourg 1 – 3 Brøndby IF
But as long as we don’t lose by more than one goal, I’ll be reasonably satisfied.
Have a great day. -

A small introduction: if you want to read about our history, click the link. Hopefully it auto-translates to French.
Brøndbyernes Idrætsforening was founded on December 3, 1964, through a merger of the football clubs Brøndbyøster Idrætsforening (founded on October 10, 1928) and Brøndbyvester Idrætsforening (founded on February 1, 1909).
The merger was prompted by the local parish council, which wanted a unification of the sports associations in the municipality. At that time, the club offered several sports, including football, handball, gymnastics, badminton, and more.
Brøndbyernes IF Fodbold A/S, the company behind the first team and youth teams, was established on May 15, 1978, in connection with the introduction of professional football in Denmark. In 1987, the company was listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange, making Brøndby IF the second football club in the world to be publicly traded. -
reginald a écrit, le 20/08/2025 15:28 : Hi @brondby & welcome!
A few of your questions were left hanging, i'll give another go at answering some of them and providing context.
Our club history is pretty fun, what with having being created a German club (Strasbourg and Alsace were German in 1906 and until 1918) or having the title of Dordogne champion in the trophy cabinet (see for yourself where Dordogne is located). You can explore a lot of that on this very website, chokful of information, statistics, etc. with auto translation from your browser.
More recently in the late noughties, the club has seen bad results piling on abysmal mismanagement which culminated in having to start from the fifth tier, abandonning our academy and a lot of staff. Very, very rough times some 15 years ago. But from this came a blessing, a much smaller but decidedly more positive and spirited fanbase emerged and started visiting much smaller stadiums in the vicinity. The club re-grew from that point and when we reached back into the French top tier in 2017 it was with a much better image, and has been seen as one of the better atmospheres in Ligue 1.
We've had up and down seasons since then, sometimes battling against relegation until very late, sometimes keeping european hopeful until the last matchday. No dice in our one shot at reaching the Europa League, we just were much too soft to take on the Eintracht. It seemed like we were going to coast by this way for the foreseeable future, and then Blueco came in, multiownership and within a group with an obvious flagship in Chelsea FC.
It's only been a couple seasons, but it is still a very, very divisve topic. In this very forum, every single topic can derail at any point whenever someone is a tiny bit too abrasive against "the other side". Some fans are enthusiastic about the unprecedented financial means, hyped to see young talented prospects showing up and growing here. Others are either opposed to multiownership as a whole, unhappy to be a "second-class club" within Blueco's with everything this might entail, or both.
Anyway. I'll pick things up later or in the coming days, I wanted to talk about the coach (young and ambitious) and some players but will be lacking time today.
Best of luck to your team, I do think anything but an actual thrashing either way tonight will lead to a completely uncertain second leg. I can see our team of yougsters collapse in Denmark under the pressure of having to preserve a favourable result. I can also see them bringing fire onto your pitch if tonight doesn't go their way and they have to rally. See you at 8!
Your club has such an incredible and inspiring history. Thank you so much for taking the time to share it. A club with such a rich heritage and a strong sense of identity commands nothing but respect. As someone who loves history and deeply values it, I truly admire what you have built. I am excited to dive even deeper into your story, and I have already shared many of your insights on our own little forum.
There is no doubt in my mind that you are held in high regard by many fans I know, and those who have made the journey there are thrilled.
Our own history may not be as rich as yours, but I still hope to share it in a new post. I hope that is alright.
Once again, thank you for sharing. I cannot wait to read more whenever you have the time to write.
Wishing you a wonderful day! -

Est-ce qu’il sera qualifié pour jouer jeudi soir ?
He’s in the squad, yes. I believe the registration of players had to be completed no later than Tuesday at 11:59 PM, if I’m not mistaken.

This will be our possible starting XI for the game:
We play 3-5-2 in possession and 5-3-2 when defending.
I don’t agree with Toke’s article calling Brøndby a counter-attacking team, we’ve only scored one goal from counters this season. Our real strength is breaking opponents between the lines, where Wass and Vallys are key in finding space for the wingbacks and strikers.
We also take risks in the build-up from the back, with Pentz good on the ball and us always trying to play out rather than just clearing it long.
This game will of course be different, as Strasbourg are a much stronger side than we usually face, and they’ll likely pin us back, especially at Stade de la Meinau. -
@falcon No worries, I understand it may feel unusual to have an outside fan sharing thoughts in your own forum. I’ll try to stay as humble and respectful as possible. Let’s hope for good weather, a packed stadium, and a fantastic match.
Best of luck to you all. -

We rested a few of our key players until Thursday (although they did get a few minutes at the end of the match). Our expectations are sky-high now, and we actually believe we can win in Strasbourg.

Hi good luck for Thursday, can you tell us about your players who is the best player of your team, in France we know Daniel Wass good player, but what about the others.
I am more worried about the match in Brondby. We have good player but very young
Brøndby’s most important player is without a doubt Nicolai Vallys. He’s the one who makes everything click in our attack. Noah Nartey and Frederik Bundgaard are our big young talents, and both have had a fantastic start to the season.
As for Daniel Wass, he’s still an important part of our game, but age is catching up with him, and you can really see it once the match goes into the later stages.
Stijn Spierings actually had his best performance for us on Sunday since arriving, and honestly we’re all a bit shocked, because he’s been heavily criticized up until now.
For me personally, though, Vallys, Nartey and Bundgaard are the key players. -
Thank you for your kindness, and I apologize if anyone considered it provocative that I said we played a good match on Sunday and are full of confidence ahead of Thursday’s game. It was never my intention to step on anyone’s toes.
I am certainly not trying to promote our club, but simply wish to give those who are interested the chance to see who we are, both as a team and as supporters.
Personally, I soak up everything I can, whether it is highlights, news, stadium videos or anything else, whenever we face European opposition, and Strasbourg is of course no exception. It is these European adventures that stay in your memory for many years.
As a football fan, not just a Brøndby supporter, I see it as an opportunity to get to know other fan groups, cultures and people. That, to me, is one of the beautiful things that still remains in football, especially in a time when the game has become more cynical.
There is no doubt that you are the big favorites, especially at home. Perhaps you will thrash us 5 to 0 and settle the tie before the return leg.
Once again, I apologize if any of my posts have come across as provocative. And once more, if you have any questions about this or that, I will be happy to help.
Wishing you all a good day. -

Will hooligans make the trip?
I hope not, but we do have a small core of people who behave like Vikings. I guess morality among football fans is declining. But I believe it will be a good day for both groups of supporters.
Do you also have fans who want to fight, and is hooliganism a big issue in French football? -

Sorry for my answers but you've to know that I've lot of consideration for Danemark and its people. Like Eric Cantona, a french poete said : "I love you, I don't know why but I love you".
You were exactly the one I had in mind, so it was good that you showed up.
BlueCo Globe Troppers isn’t a completely bad name, but I still prefer your original football name and football history.
We are now part of Global Football Holding (GFH), our new owners, and through them also connected with clubs like ADO Den Haag (Netherlands), Waasland-Beveren (Belgium), AD Alcorcón (Spain), Estoril (Portugal), Augsburg (Germany), Real Salt Lake (USA) and Crystal Palace (England). So I truly understand your frustration.
Your answers are absolutely accepted. -
foot-france67 a écrit, le 16/08/2025 14:34 : Hi,
Strasbourg have never been a top club in french league despite the fact that the football is very popular in our Alsace region with the best football-licensed rate among the population in France, but it is a respected club with a rich history, we won 1 champion title in 1979, and 6 national cup, the last time was in 2019 which was a real performance knowing that in France it's very hard to win something when you have the Paris Saint-Germain around there.
This club have his up and down but you can be sure that we never boring with this club.
The atmosphere in stadium is known to be one of the best in France even if this atmosphere have changed since there is a a strong dissension among our supporters between the anti-blueco and the pro-blueco.
Our Stade de la Meinau is expected to be full, 24-25 000 spectator knowing that the stadium is currentely under works. (the capacity will up to 32 000 in November)
Brondby was one of the rare and the fews club that I could recognize among our potential adversary, I think we had an very unlucky draw, especially that the return game will take place in Denmark. Our club is known to be very strong in home, you have to know that we lost only one game in The Meinau in our last 20 home european cup game and it was only against the strong Milan AC in 1995 and we were able to beat Frankfurt in 2019 in our last european game in home and that was a good performance.
But, we are known to be lousy away especially when there is some big stake, so I don't expect to win in your stadium and I hope we will make the difference in home first.
And were are very pleased to play Brondby, that's what we think European cup look like, it's a real European game with bigs fans in both sides.
Yes, it’s a shame that globalization has ruined so much in football. As I understand it, you’re frustrated with your new ownership, and we’re going through a similar kind of ‘transformation’ ourselves.
We’ve been taken over by American owners who also have other football clubs under their wings. It’s a sad development, and that’s why there’s also a certain degree of division among our fans , those who are against it and those who support it. Personally, I’m against it.
Strasbourg has such a proud and rich history, and it deserves to be protected rather than reduced to just another piece in a football business empire. As fans, we both know football is about identity, passion and tradition, not just money. In that sense, I think our struggles are very similar, and it creates a kind of solidarity between our fanbases. -

Flamekuchen looks delicious, alot better than rollmops. Hehe.
We’ve got sausages, kebab, pizza – the usual stuff. But I guess it’s pretty expensive for foreigners, so you’d better pack a bag with baguettes, ham and cheese. -
Haha, didn’t even notice that! Guess I should’ve paid more attention in school when I picked French as an elective. :))
But honestly… at this point I think I’ll just side with the AI.
Our European track record is tragic comedy, you are absolutely right! We almost got buried in a volcano by part-time footballers from Iceland.

I’m glad to hear you’ve heard good things about the atmosphere at our stadium.
If we get a good result in the first leg, you can expect an electric and magical atmosphere. We call ourselves “Hell in the North,” and I hope you get to experience the full intensity of it.
One of our biggest ambitions is to return to European competition — it’s where we feel we truly belong because of our history.
I hope many of you will come and visit us…

What does the Nickname: Drengene fra Vestegnen mean ? Does it refer to the west of Copenhagen ?
My uncle and cousins live in Frederiksberg, I have been there several times, my uncle was born in Strasbourg and lives in Copenhagen for more than 35 years.
Will you take part in the supporters’ trip next week in Strasbourg ?
That’s cool to hear. Frederiksberg is a wonderful place to live.
Yes, you're spot on! Drengene fra Vestegnen simply means “The Boys from the West” (west of Copenhagen). But don’t confuse us with Copenhageners — we don’t like that. :p
Unfortunately, no, but I will be there for our home game on SydSiden.
How many spectators do you expect to attend? And what is the general perception of facing Brøndby?
Would you consider it a failure if you don’t go through to the league stages?
-----

Does he plays well for your team ?
Alexander Farnerud was also in the past a player that plays in our both teams.
We bought Yuito Suzuki from Shimizu S-Pulse for around €600,000 and sold him after two seasons to Freiburg for €10 million. He was outstanding for Brøndby IF, scoring 23 goals in 69 appearances.
Alexander Farnerud was also a solid player for us, but when he arrived at Brøndby, the club was going through a lot of chaos, so he didn’t quite live up to the hype. -

Danes who have played for Racing haven't always had much success, except for Carsten Nielsen in the 1980s. Otherwise, there have been many failures: Denis Conteh, Per Pedersen, Morten Nielsen...
With Hogsberg, whom we're about to meet, I hope it will be a success.
Have any French players played for Brondby?
As far as I know, no French players have ever played for Brøndby IF. We do have a Belgian in the squad, Vanlerberghe, which is probably the closest we’ve come.
It’s funny you mention Per Pedersen, because he was one of my heroes back in the day. He even scored against the French national team with an overhead kick!
For the nostalgia. I was at the match at sat just a few meters away from the french supporters. Thanks for reminding me of that.

rcs68forever a écrit, le 15/08/2025 21:45 : Will your squad be at full strength for Wednesday?
We'll have a lot of players missing, especially among the defenders. Therefore, Hogsberg has a good chance of playing or at least being on the bench.
We'll have four to five of our potential starters absent, but we'll certainly have a full stadium.
Apart from Clement Bischoff (one of our top talents), who was close to a move to Brighton this past winter, the squad is otherwise fully intact and ready.
We’ve had a solid start to our league campaign (the Superliga), but our play has faced some criticism. Our aim is to play aggressively, with high pressing and lots of energy. We haven’t quite found our optimal style yet, but after the most recent match, I believe the squad’s morale is strong, and the players are highly motivated for the game against Strasbourg.
Which players are missing on your side, and how do you expect your team to line up? -
rcs68forever a écrit, le 15/08/2025 21:14 : Hello Brondby
Great initiative you're taking by introducing yourself here.
A quick look at the characteristics of the Brondby club reveals some nice similarities with our Racing Club Strasbourg. The fervor of the supporters, the type of stadium...
Strasbourg fans also like to come and support their team away from home; we won't miss this trip to Copenhagen.
You have a much greater national record than Strasbourg and a stronger European history as well.
Normally, we're the favorites for this match, but you have a big advantage: Brondby is much more ready at the start of the season. Strasbourg is still in the middle of preparation; it will be a 50/50 decision.
Merci!
We have naturally taken a close look at your squad, recent acquisitions, and financial investments. We are impressed by your recent signings, particularly the substantial investments made to strengthen your team. Such financial resources and opportunities are unfortunately beyond our reach.
Notably, your acquisition of Lucas Høgsberg from FC Nordsjælland has caught our attention. We were somewhat taken aback by the significant fee paid for him. Honestly, we don’t consider him a particularly strong defender, so we are curious and secretly hoping that you start him in the upcoming matches.
In contrast, Brøndby IF's transfer activity this season has been more modest. According to Transfermarkt, we have invested approximately €3.59 million in new signings, with departures totaling around €13.95 million. This reflects our strategic approach to squad development, focusing on sustainable growth and youth integration. -

We went into this game as massive favourites, but somehow we found ourselves 3-0 down! To make things even trickier, our young talent Clement Bischoff got a red card. With 45 minutes left, playing 10 vs 11, it looked grim… yet our team dug deep, showed incredible spirit, and managed to pull through to qualify for the playoff stage against Strasbourg.
